© Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2016.Manual transmission shift quality has become extremely demanding due to the higher requirements imposed by drivers in the last years. It is well recognized that manual gearshift operation is a remarkable activity regarding quality perception in passenger vehicles. The available literature presents analytical methods to predict shift quality, but applying only objective variables faced by the driven, and removes the human from the equation. This study introduces the human and ergonomics portion, evaluating the influence of anthropometric variances and muscular activity, though surface electromyography acquisition, on human subjective rating via linear regressions analysis.
