benzoguanamina mostrou boa performance.
Within the concept of paints and varnishes, it is known that there are numerous types of applications and use, the formulation of each paint and varnish is prepared to meet the requirements of each market, such as in the beverage can market, which main requirement is to conserve the food, meeting ANVISA food standards and safety standards. It is known that the properties of each material are closely linked to its chemical structure, so the study and development of new materials becomes a complex and difficult task. This dissertation aims to present a study on external water-based varnish to coat aluminum cans in the beverage segment. In this market for beverage cans the quality requirements are very great, in the case of the external varnish, a varnish with good resistance to the risk is needed. To improve the physical strengths there is need to react to the standard resin with a crosslinking agent. In this dissertation a comparison of the properties of a crosslinked acrylic lacquer with six types of different amine resins will be presented: methylated melamine, butylated melamine, glycoluril, methylated urea, butylated urea and benzoguanamine. Twenty-five different samples were formulated, which were evaluated for physical properties such as adhesion, durability, impact and flexibility, as well as chemical properties, such as methyl ethyl ketone resistance, methyl violet solution, among others. The specimens were made in the same material used in the manufacturing processes. The drying of the same was carried out in a single thermal greenhouse, thus avoiding oscillations between the samples. Also studied were the chemical reactions involved in the formulations through the FTIR and DSC, the reactions involved for each crosslinking agent were observed. The results showed that there were significant differences among the crosslinking agents among the agents tested, the lacquer with methylated melamine obtained the best result in the analyzes, being effective in almost all tests performed. Secondly, the varnish with benzoguanamine showed good performance. The other agents tested did not reach satisfactory results.
